This second volume in the Masters Legacy Series is a celebration of and collaboration with the great bassist, composer, and arranger Ron Carter—who happens to be the most recorded bassist in the history of jazz, having appeared on more than twentyfive hundred albums, in an incredible variety of settings and genres, from Bach to Bette Midler—a virtuoso but also a profoundly supportive collaborator. Bassist Boots Maleson says, “Ron hears everything going on around him, and he can take in what his fellow musicians play and make it better." There is ample proof of this on this recording, live from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, which in addition to the protagonists includes talented drummer Evan Sherman, new to me but not to Ron Carter.
